About The Family WebsiteIn the old days families tended to stay in the same regions of the country for several generations. Large extended famlies developed with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and cousins all living in close proximity to one another. The result was a strong family bond. There was a sense of family togetherness and belonging. Cousins grew up playing with cousins. Everyone knew each other and shared in each other's joys and sorrows.
Our family has grown quiet large and has extended all across America and around the globe as individual family units have moved away from the towns they grew up in.
The purpose of this Family Website is to shrink the distance bewteen us. It provides family members with an avenue to become better aquainted with each other by keeping up to date with important family events, exchanging photos, chatting, and reading the latest family scoop! Together we can restore our sense of "Family Togetherness."

Family Photo Gallery - Ever wondered what that remote cousin you've heard about but never met really looks like. Here's the place to find out.
Family Newsletter - A place to catch up on the latest news from each of our families. The first quarterly edition will premier in November of 1998.
Family Address Book - Find all your relatives' most current addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses here.
Family Calendar - An easy way to keep up with everyone's special days. Birthdays, anniversaries, upcoming weddings and graduations can all be found here.Family Chat Room - This is a special room where Family Members can engage in real-time, conference-like chats with each other over the Internet using their web browser. Family Members have unlimited access to the chat room 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can check in at any time to see who if anybody is there or they may pre-arrange to meet one or more family members at a specific time. Regular "Family Reunion Chats" will be scheduled to encourage the members to keep up with each other. The Family Chat Room is also set up to allow private "One-on-One Chatting."
Family Bulletin Board - This is a convieniant place where family members can post and reply to messages. Got a question? Family related or not, here's the place to ask it.
Family E-Mailing List - An easy way to send a message to all of the members of our extended family. When you send an e-mail to this list or reply to an e-mail sent from this list it is automaticly sent to everyone on the list.
The Family Archive - Contains our online database of genealogical information and family histories. It also contains photographs of our ancestors and research information of interest to family historians and genealogists. The online database currently holds genealogical information on over 300 related surnames and 1300 individuals.

For privacy reasons access to the The Family Website is restricted to members only. Membership is by invitation only and is extended to "known" family members and "confirmed" relatives who have descended from one or more of the individuals in our ancestor database. Membership is currently free to all qualified persons.
"Known" family members and relatives as well as recently "confirmed" relatives may join the Family Archive by filling out the Membership Form.
NOTE: For our purposes "Known", "Confirmed", "Members", and "Non-Members" are defined as follows:"Known" relatives are persons who the Archive Administrators already know to be related to us or to ancestors in our database. They themselves ususally know in advanced that they are related to one or more individuals in our database. They are often refered to this website by relatives of theirs who are already Members.
"Confirmed" relatives are persons who we have determined to be related to one or more individuals in our database after receiving confirming evidence which proves a connection.
"Members" are relatives (either "known" or "confirmed") who have joined the Family Archive by filling out the membership form. They are given an ID and password to access the The Family Website.
"Non-Members" are persons (even relatives) who have not yet joined the Family Archive.
